LES Celebrates Student Achievement, Leadership, and Citizenship
Landstuhl Elementary School proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its fifth-grade students during a special awards ceremony recognizing academic excellence, leadership, service, and citizenship. Families, teachers, classmates, and staff gathered to honor students who have distinguished themselves through their achievements and contributions to the school community.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of the Presidential Academic Awards, one of the nation's most prestigious recognitions for student achievement. Awarded at key milestones throughout a student's educational journey, these honors recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance over time. Students received either Gold or Silver recognition based on established criteria reflecting their commitment to learning and academic excellence.
In addition to academic achievement awards, students were recognized with the Presidential Award for Educational Achievement and the Presidential Award for Citizenship. The Citizenship Award honors students who consistently demonstrate outstanding character, responsibility, integrity, respect for others, and a commitment to making positive contributions to their school community. These students serve as role models for their peers through their actions and leadership.
The ceremony also highlighted the accomplishments of LES's Anchored4Life student leaders. Led by the school counseling team, Anchored4Life is a student-led transition and service program that empowers students to support their school and community. Participants are nominated by teachers for demonstrating leadership potential and a commitment to helping others.
Throughout the school year, Anchored4Life members organized and participated in meaningful service projects, including collecting pet food donations for local animal welfare organizations and creating gift baskets for military members serving in remote locations. They also play a vital role in welcoming new students and families to LES by providing school tours, answering questions, and helping newcomers successfully transition into the school community.
Fifth-grade teacher Ms. Luebbers spoke to the students about the significance of the awards and the qualities that helped them earn this recognition.
“These awards represent much more than grades or accomplishments,” Ms. Luebbers shared. “They reflect perseverance, kindness, leadership, service, and the choices students make every day. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and character these students have demonstrated throughout their elementary school years.”
LES Principal Dr. Bade assisted in presenting the awards and celebrating each student's achievements. As the ceremony concluded, she continued a cherished LES tradition by reading an original poem she wrote titled "Endings and Beginnings." For the past two years, Dr. Bade has shared the poem with each fifth-grade class as they prepare to leave elementary school and begin their middle school journey.
The poem served as a heartfelt reminder that while students are saying goodbye to one chapter of their lives, they are also stepping confidently into exciting new opportunities and experiences ahead.
The ceremony celebrated not only academic success but also the values that make Landstuhl Elementary School a strong and supportive community. Whether through scholarship, citizenship, leadership, or service, the students recognized demonstrated the qualities that help make LES a place where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.
