Kindergarteners Perform Vowel Surgery
Kindergarten students at Landstuhl Elementary School recently transformed their classroom into an operating room for a fun and engaging “Vowel Surgery” activity. Dressed as doctors in medical gear provided by Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, students worked together to diagnose and repair words missing their short vowel sounds. Using phonics strategies and teamwork, they practiced sounding out and blending letters to make complete words. Along the way, they also learned about the medical profession while building collaboration skills and having fun.

Music in Our Schools Month
DoDEA joins the National Association for Music Education and schools across the nation in celebrating Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) in March. The purpose of recognizing MIOSM in DoDEA is to highlight and advocate for music programs in our schools.

The Department Announces New Director of DoWEA
The Department is pleased to announce that Mr. Paul Craft will succeed Dr. Beth Schiavino-Narvaez as the Director of the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), effective March 9, 2026.
